PVA (Poly Vinyl Acetate) sizing is a contemporary alternative to rabbit skin glue for sealing linen and cotton canvas. Conservation scientists recommend painters use neutral-pH PVA size instead of rabbit skin glue, which can re-absorb atmospheric moisture, causing swelling and shrinking of the fabric.

Gamblin PVA size is diluted with distilled water, has a neutral pH and does not yellow. It also retains its flexibility, does not emit harmful VOCs, and protects the fabric from the ground and paint layers. PVA does not tighten the fabric like rabbit skin glue, so stretch tightly before applying sizing.

The 8 oz (250 ml) bottle will cover 10 sq. feet and 33.8 oz (1 L) bottle will cover 40 sq. feet.
